Late Lt. Rai Bahadur Madhudusan Das (M.L.C) was a well renowned sociocratic leader and a philanthropist. Rai Bahadur Sahab (as he is popularly remembered even today) was a Member of the Legislative Council and was also awarded the title of Honorary Second Lieutenant in the year 1950 for his services to the nation by the then President of India DR. RAJENDRA PRASAD JI. He had dedicated his life for the upliftment of education in Eastern UP. Some of his noteworthy contribution to the Society as follows:

He was General Secretary of the Gorakhpur University foundation Committee from its formation till the establishment of the Gorakhpur University i.e. from the year 1944 till 1957.

He was General Secretary of NathChandravat Trust which Donated Rs 2,25,000/- to the Gorakhpur University and was instrumental in setting up the Gorakhpur University.

He was president of the Aryan Educational Trust Gorakhpur which runs D.A.V. group of educational institutions at Gorakhpur.

Some of the other educational institutions he established in eastern UP include the Abhainandan Intercollege Gorakhpur, Murari Inter College Shahjanwa, Gulali Shishu Vidyala and Bhagwati Prasad Kanya Mahavidyalaya.

Madhusudan Das Jain Memorial Society has been set up with the objective of promoting higher education in Gorakhpur and has successfully set up Madhusudan Das Degree College Gorakhpur in the year 2004. Since its Inception, Madhusudan Das Degree College has emerged as the premier institute for commerce education in Gorakhpur.
